AMÁLIE KOVÁŘOVÁ – Director

Amálie Kovářová (1992) studied directing at FAMO in Písek. After school she started working for the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, where she made short documentaries, reports and promotional spots. Her interest in politics led her to collaborate on the project Opinions. In January 2018, she started filming her first activist videos and subsequently discovered the Chvilka pro Andrei challenge.

She emailed Mikuláš Minář, they met the next day and Amálie became a member of the newly emerging movement Million Moments for Democracy the same day. Thanks to this, she was very close to the main protagonists of the film and could catch a glimpse into the core of the movement and the stories of the initiators themselves. She decided to leave the association in the autumn of 2022 in order to have some distance while completing this film. The film was selected for the prestigious DOK.incubator workshop, which allowed her to consult with top editors from around the world. This film is her feature debut.
